What a season and what a day/night it was last night celebrating the Double promotion!! One of the best nights I've seen at Heslam Park for sure with the togetherness of the place, cricket winning and the rugby lads being there after their win too. Special place!
For the 1st team it has been an amazing season. Winning the league and the way we have won it has been most pleasing. Everyone has chipped in, everyone has played their part and it has been a real team effort. As captain I couldn't have asked any more from the players, whatever I threw at them they responded and it's a credit to their desire of wanting the club to do so well. All our hard work and efforts have really paid off and we will be playing cricket where we belong next season. I have no doubts we will hold our own and be very succesful. Have to remember how this year has felt and keep working hard and keep striving. This is just the start.
Massive congrats to Simon Leek and the 2nd team for pulling off an incredible promotion to Division 1. The results in the last month have been brilliant and it has been much deserved! Well done to you and all the team! Next stop - Lincs Premier Division.
The 3rds this year have been excellent. Not conceding a game all season has been an amazing effort. Getting 3 teams out on a weekly basis is difficult but we have managed it so well. It has seen some of the younger players come through and make their debuts in senior cricket. Some have got a taste of what it is like to be on the field. This is a very important team for us as it's the base of getting the younger ones ready for senior cricket. Their efforts have been amazing and we hope to see more coming through and more success for next season! Well done the 3s!!!
A special mention to Jonathan Jacklin - a club legend and is still going strong with the bat, his experience in that team is vital!!
Finally thank you to everyone who has supported us this season. Sponsor's, officials, members etc. Without you none of this would be possible. What I have enjoyed most this season is the atmosphere, the buzz around the place. From top to bottom. From the juniors right the way to the 1st team, everyone has played with a smile, enjoyed themselves and they've found success on the way. It has been so pleasing to see. Trophies and winning leagues and cups are well and good but the atmosphere of the club is what makes it that bit better. I really hope this continues and it's up to us to keep supporting each other, sticking together and having that one goal of making the club better each and everyday! It's a very special place to be right now......no better place to be than Scunthorpe Town Cricket Club.
What a season 2017 has been. I'm already looking forward too and excited about what 2018 is going to bring.....
