BANSAL AND SNOWDEN HIT HALF CENTURIES AS 1st XI GET OFF TO WINNING START IN THE ECB.....

STCC 1st XI finally got life in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League underway this season as we hosted Lindum. Scunthorpe won the toss and put them into bat. At 95/2 at the drinks interval, Lindum were on course to make 250. Some excellent bowling in the middle of the innings from Garmesh Chand and Karanjit Bansal built up pressure. Daniel Cliffe then produced a magnificent spell of death bowling not allowing Lindum to get away. Lindum finished their innings 198/8. The last 25 overs only going for 103 runs while picking up 6 wickets. Daniel Cliffe finished with 3/28 in 11 overs and Karanjit Bansal 3/51 in 14 overs.

The run chase got off to a brilliant start, opening pair Karanjit Bansal and David Brown putting on 48. Brown fell for 25 then Jamie Brumby quickly followed. Karanjit Bansal set up the chase well scoring a brisk 57 off 52 balls. Ian Snowden held the innings together with 56 not out on his return to his home club. The innings was superbly finished off by Ben Brumby who made 37 not out in 29 balls finishing the game with a 6.

A brilliant start beating a strong Lindum side. Showing we are capable of competing at this level. Long way to go this season but a positive start.
